Economical Solution for Freezing Embryos and Sperm:

GMF will freeze embryos from mating experiment of 5-10 female mice, age 3 to 20 weeks, and 5-10 fertile males, age 8 to 20 weeks, to produce approximately 120 to 150 embryos which will be frozen in straws. Epidydimal sperm from two males will be frozen in 10 straws.

Standard Embryo Cryopreservation:

Be sure to have 5-10 fertile males, age 8 to 20 weeks, and at least 10-20 females, age 3 to 20 weeks from the desired strain. We will produce approximately 250 embryos by natural mating, freeze 2-cell embryos in up to 12 straws by control rate freezing, test thaw, and implant into pseudopregnant recipients to produce live offspring. Straws can be stored in the GMF cryostorage tank, which is secured and alarmed, for an annual fee.

Cryopreservation of Embryos produced by IVF (SpeedCryo):

We require at least two fertile males, age 8 to 20 weeks. We will then produce approximately 250 embryos by IVF using fresh sperm, freeze 2-cell embryos in up to 12 straws by control rate freezing, test thaw, and implant into pseudopregnant recipients to produce live offspring. Straws can be stored in GMF cryostorage tank, which is secured and alarmed, for an annual fee.

Sperm Cryopreservation:

We require two fertile males, age 8 to 20 weeks, with successful mating experience.  Epididymal sperm will be frozen in 10 straws, which can be stored in the GMF liquid nitrogen-storage tank for an annual fee.

Transferring animals into the Harvard managed animal facility will be initiated after the Service Request Form has been submitted. Fees relating to the transport of live mice to Harvard and any health testing required prior to importation are the responsiblilty of the exporting lab.

Non-Harvard Academic & Non-Profit users pay 15% more than Harvard users. Service fees for Industry & For-Profit users are given upon request.

Disclaimer: The GMF reserves the right to change fees without prior notice.
